Collection: CurlyMark

CurlyMark (aka Mark Jerred-Nixon) uses various media to reflect his love of pop culture, pop art and pop iconography.

A master “tinkerer”, he uses blades and laser-cutting machinery combined with more traditional paint and print processes to create textural, intriguing images, often building up layers of physical depth in a piece to make them more tactile – and more present.

He is inspired by signwriting, typography, vintage pop-art and advertising, bold colours, and the graphic simplicity often seen in retro commercial printing work.

There is a monumentality, historicism and permanence to his work (not least in the physical processes involved in creating each work) which defies, contradicts and contrasts with the ephemeral and transient nature of the subjects.
